Kinder Writing
Jamie is having some "issues" with writing. His teacher says to practice because he's struggling with it. I knew he was and we've been working on it. It's getting better, but really, he's been in Kinder for what? A month?
This was in his packet on Friday.... I know he copied it from the board or whatever, but still... awwwww.... and his handwriting IS improving a bit... for the clueless it says "Dear mom and dad, I love you, Jamie"
... and if I may, let's talk about this "Always Do Your Best!" stuff. This seems to be the mantra for kids in sports, school, etc etc. Now while I want my kids to do their best, I also want them to strive for excellence. Just doing something and saying "sorry, that's the best I can do" doesn't totally cut the mustard with me. I know, I'm sure that makes me some horrible parent or whatever, but can't we see "reach for the stars" or "strive to succeed" or something? "always do your best" sounds mediocre.

His handwriting looks right on for a kindergartener to me... I had one last year, remember!
As for "do your best," I live by that. To me, it means to take a minute and ask yourself if this IS the best you can do, or do you have more to give, once you get past that layer of laziness? It means to really really TRY, 100%.
So maybe for me, "do your best" means "Strive to do better."
Just 2c on a Sunday morning...
I think his writing looks ok, It's pretty close to Glenn's. I'm about to gear up for a post about Kinder expectations myself, but not sure it will get done today lol.
His handwriting looks good to me!
