WOSM: Principal Power Trip
Excuse me while I rant a little...This principal up in NY sent home 3 girls that were dressed as the book character Captain Underpants. Those of you with kids have probably heard about him, if not had to read about his adventures with the infamous Professor Poopypants. Dude! WHAT is your problem! These kids were dressed up as BOOK characters. BOOKS. That means that some kids are actually READING, they weren't dressed up as the latest video game hero. I'm sorry, but ANYTIME a kid reads, I think it's a beautiful thing. Yes, even if it's Captain Underpants. Read the full story HERE
This, my friends is the offending character. Oh my! The shock! The horror! Are you serious? Just because it "looked" like they were naked. Well, heck, I dressed up as Dorothy. Just because it may LOOK like her doesn't mean I have a dog and a witch chasing me for my shoes. Are you SERIOUS??? My kids LOVE these books. They think they are the funniest thing ever. And ya know what? If they wanna dress like Captain Underpants, more power to them.

I heard that on the radio the other morning.
What a retard.
I played too.
Ummm... they were 17. Not 7. LOL. Being proud they were reading captain underpants probably isn't something I'd personally be proud about if my daughter was 17. ;)
Also - having a High School daughter myself and knowing her friends... I would bet the only reason the girls wanted to dress that way was the opportunity to wear underwear to school.
LOL. Not that I would have sent them home if I was the principal - I probably wouldn't have cared. But really.... I don't think a preschool book qualifies as being happy your kids are 'reading'. ;)
I. Hate. People.
I find the books pretty humorous. I love reading those to my kids. 7 or 17, these days, if a kid is reading ANYTHING, parents should be happy.
While LAN's Edge was still open, we could not GIVE away books to teenagers. They just were not interested. One time a kid took a stack, I thought "Wow, at least we did good with one kid." Nope, found them torn up outside the store the next morning. Some of those books were really nice hard covers, too.
So, if I ever see a teenager reading a book. I don't care if it is "War and Peace" or "The Littlest Ducky", I'll be happy.
I'm just glad that Cassie and Jamie both seem to be developing a love and respect for books.
Good grief. Idiots.
You are right. You and Tom are RIGHT ON.
