Okay, seriously... lunch should NOT be this big of a deal, right?
Jamie, in theory, has a lunch card. It has $40 on it. In theory. On Monday, I asked him if he got his card and bought his milk. He told me everything was free but he didn't want milk. Ummm... okay. I check his balance online and yes, it is showing up, he has money on his card. Good, right? So on Tuesday he told me that he really wanted an apple and milk after he ate his lunch, but no one gave him his card. So, I get my lazy arse out of my car this morning and wait in line with the kids and make sure to tell the teacher that he is confused and to please make sure he gets milk with his lunch...
So, Jamie comes home today. He tells me he got in line and got milk and then the lunch lady wouldn't let him have the milk because it wasn't his card - it was Jason's card or Jameson's card or Jehico's card. I asked him if he asked the teacher about it and he said no because he didn't want to upset the teacher. Okay, I know Jamie is a very sweet kid and really he's all about not upsetting the proverbial apple cart, but why didn't the lunch lady find out what was going on?
Heck, it may not have even happened that way. I don't know. All I know is that my kid wants an apple and milk (not junk food) and he can't figure out how to do it. I tried emailing the teacher, but she never responded to my original email to her about the play dough she wanted and she doesn't update her class website so I'm figuring she isn't a computer person. I tried to call, but I got someone else's voice mail. So I faxed her at the school, I figure they will put it in her box. Hopefully she'll call me and Jamie will get his freaking milk. LOL. If not, I'll find out when their lunch is and take him to the cafeteria on Friday and figure out what is going on. He is eating lunch from the cafeteria on Fridays because it's pizza day (d'oh).
I'm not all that concerned about the milk, I mean, he had water in his lunchbox, he's not going to die or anything, but I don't want him not to be able to get lunch on Friday when we don't send a boxed lunch. I don't want to be "that parent" but obviously something is getting lost in translation here.
Seriously, it shouldn't be this hard... They have orientation on Friday for the parents, I'm thinking they should have done this BEFORE school because us newbies are completely and utterly useless and confused as to what the heck is going on.
To complicate matters, his "in trouble" (i.e. real name) is James. We have a last name that NO one pronouces correctly (it's "bee-chum"). He doesn't recognized James as his name really. I have to wonder if the lunch lady asked him if his name was James and he said no or something (??) I dunno... I need an Advil.
In other news... Jamie came home with a "ticket" for good behavior... he got it for being so very polite. :) Yes, that's my son. He's nothing if not polite.
