The Matrix....or is it?

Ok, so the two follow up were total crapola. The Matrix itself is still one amazing movie. Now....Imagine if it had been done with some of the best, and most influentional actors of all time. Yes, that is right, I mean: THE MUPPETS!!!

Entertainment Book

I get these every year. They are FULL of great savings. Just the coupons for eating out alone make it well worth the purchase. The one this year is pretty awesome. The book is around $20 and the first page has $20 in coupons for Randalls. Cool. I shop there for quick party trays and stuff, so it's already paid for itself.

(and yes, if you buy a book from the link below (well, actually if 5 people do) I get something - a Target gift card. Go buy one... seriously, they are awesome!)

The Entertainment Book is running a special friends-and-family offer that includes a great Target Gift Card giveaway. I wanted to extend an invitation for you to reserve your copy of the book and get your friends in on this deal before the offer expires. You can view my personal invitation below:

If Women Controlled The World....

Possible DUI

So, Tom got pulled over... AGAIN. Seriously, I think he's been pulled over twice in the past 10 years. Both of them in the past month. *laugh* Welcome to Williamson County! This time, he was coming hom from his dad's night out at a movie, swerved to miss a squirrel and got pulled over by the fuzz. AND apparently the light around our license plate is out. No, he didn't get a ticket, but he did have to do stupid human tricks in the middle of the night.

I just can't stop laughing.

Kinder Writing

Jamie is having some "issues" with writing. His teacher says to practice because he's struggling with it. I knew he was and we've been working on it. It's getting better, but really, he's been in Kinder for what? A month?

This was in his packet on Friday.... I know he copied it from the board or whatever, but still... awwwww.... and his handwriting IS improving a bit... for the clueless it says "Dear mom and dad, I love you, Jamie"

... and if I may, let's talk about this "Always Do Your Best!" stuff. This seems to be the mantra for kids in sports, school, etc etc. Now while I want my kids to do their best, I also want them to strive for excellence. Just doing something and saying "sorry, that's the best I can do" doesn't totally cut the mustard with me. I know, I'm sure that makes me some horrible parent or whatever, but can't we see "reach for the stars" or "strive to succeed" or something? "always do your best" sounds mediocre.

Party and baseball...

Just clearing off my camera... here are a few shots from a birthday party we went to (the clown had lizards and snakes - I didn't think it was funny - ick! LOL!). And one (sorry, Tom took it, he tries) of Jamie hitting a ball in the backyard. Tom sucks at pitching we've learned and Jamie finally stands the right way to bat.

A 9/11 Tribute - Louis Arena, Ladder 5 FDNY

I usually don't do this kind of stuff, but I was compelled to honor someone. This actually a great little project, a blogger has asked other bloggers to honor someone killed on 9/11/01 - all 2996 of them. My thoughts are with everyone who lost someone 5 years ago today. Please take a moment to read about Louis, his life and his death.

Louis Arena, age 32.
Place killed: World Trade Center.
Resident of New York, N.Y. (USA).

I made a point of looking for information. Louis was a firefighter with ladder 5 in the FDNY. His wife (Wanda) was 31 and he had two children aged 3 (Joseph) and 4 (Nina) when he died.

He was one of 8 that died with that ladder that day. His funeral was on September 19, 2001.

Other memorials to Louis can be found at HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE. Pictures of Ladder 5 can be found HERE.

Today, I honor Lou Arena, who lost his life that horrible day on September 11, 2001. To his family and all of the families that lost loved ones that day, my heart truly goes out to you. To all of the firefighters out there, a special honor to you and yours - you guys go in while telling everyone else to get out.

Why the kids have a therapy fund instead of college fund

Tom and I always joke that we aren't going to bother saving up for our kid's college education, we are going for the therapy bills because we can truly be evil parents ;)

So, today we stop in at evil WalMart to look at Halloween stuff (yes, already - Jamie has requested a Halloween party and we LOVE Halloween in this family). Anyway, so we are checking out the Halloween section and they have these 6' dudes. One is an Edwardian Butler - it is AWESOME. I want one for the party. I'm totally going to buy one (can you hear my credit card screaming?) Along with all those creepy things, there's a big clear ball with a floating head in it... Cassie was tolerating it but wasn't exactly thrilled. Of course they are all movement/sound activated.

So, Tom's behind us and makes a LOUD clap, which sets the stuff off and makes Cassie jump about 3 ft in the air and SCREAM bloody murder. I quickly rush out of the aisle with her in the cart and there are two workers walking towards us. They must have thought someone fell... LOL. Tom and I are completely cracking up, Cassie is screaming and will not go anywhere NEAR that aisle. I have to go around it.

That wasn't good enough though, Tom kept making noises and stuff. I bought her a little Disney Princess treat bucket to make it up to her. Poor kid was shaking going out there.

Yup, we are totally evil.

We found some really great stuff today for decorations. I'm SO excited to be back in a real house again this year. I hope we get lots of trick or treaters and a few that are too scared to go up to our house >:-)

LMS: Falling Woman

Better late than never today... it was a weird day... Most everyone has probably seen this, but it's still a great time waster and lots of fun.

It's *almost* perverse. You can click on her with your mouse and drag her around too.

Enjoy!

Jamie Being Crazy

What can I say... like father, like son...

The Green Bean Standoff

Okay, seriously, go empty your bladder before watching this kid (no, it's not my kid, but it could be).

"I'll never eat a green bean again!!!!!!!" ROFLMAO...

This kid cracks me up! Seriously funny stuff...

Ear Infection...

So, for the past few days I've been coughing with a sore throat. I knew it was mostly allergies, so I've been ignoring it. All of us are suffering with seasonal allergies right now. Jamie started sounding really bad yesterday and last night I could hear him moaning in his bed. He ended up coming and getting in the bed with me while Tom was in the shower, saying his ear hurt. Ut-Oh. I'm SUPER FREAKY about ear stuff. I had (literally) hundreds of ear infections as a child. So, I kept him home today and Tom took him to the doctor. The doctor said all the gunk in his lungs and nose is from allergies, but it looks like it's backed up into his little ears. She said there were actual BLISTERS in his ears from it. :( Poor little guy! He's not contagious so he can go to school tomorrow. So, he's got antibiotics... poor Jamie.

WBW: I cannot believe I'm going to post this....

This is my first (and sure to be my last) WBW... I'm not embarassed to show the pictures, I'm just too lazy to scan these suckers... LOL... this week, the kept woman is asking us to share our early 90's fashion.

I don't have many pictures, but this one is from March 3, 1993. Our wedding day. And you get 2 pictures -- Yes, that really is my hair and no, it's not naturally that curly. Oh, you had the spiral perm too, you know you did so stop laughing at me.

Yes, those really are my sister's bangs. And yes, that REALLY is my mother's shirt - Hey, I think she still has that shirt actually. Yes, that's my youngest sister's shiny puff-sleeved dress. And yes, we were really young. NICE curtains in my grandmother's house too...

The Waning Days of Summer...

Just some random pool shots from yesterday, they both had a great time - Tom and I were too lazy to put a proper suit on them so they jumped in in their underwear :-)

Moblog from car

Asked Cassie what Jamie was... She says Jamie is a freak. Yeah. We were looking for brother. Thanks though.

LMS: Whack The Penguin....

No worries, my Linux-friendly friends.... Tux was not harmed in the making of this little computer game. My top score is 314... not too shabby!

Check it out HERE.
