I am such a wuss. It's freaking COLD out there. It's like 30 degrees and the wind is all blowing... dang, I miss Hawaii.

Should I be worried...

Should I be worried that my kid is now drawing pictures on post-it notes because I see those all the time?

Okay, so we have mom and dad. Fine. We have Cassie and it looks like she's picking a flower. Okay, good. So what does Jamie have in his hand and why is he throwing it? You know he's throwing it at Cassie... stay tuned... I'm sure the next Post-It art will be Cassie in tears because Jamie hit her with whatever that spiky thing is he has in his hand.

Carseats: Sad Video...

I know you all know this, but please protect your kids. This is so very sad, but I'm glad the mom had the courage to make this. My heart aches for her. The tribute site for her son is HERE.

Having said that, a few weeks ago, I put Cassie (age 3.5) in her carseat (she's still in a 5-point of course) and realized that Jamie (age 6) had accidentally unbuckled her seat instead of his (he's in a booster)... we didn't even realize the new van had LATCH (d'uh, I know it's standard on all cars now, but it just didn't click)... needless to say I immediately thought "what if" and she's LATCHed in there now. We also have been having fights with her over her pushing the chest clip down... I spent 20 minutes sitting in the driveway one day because she refused to leave it up... she got it. It's so important, people... so important.

I realize her situation is pretty unique. Seatbelts don't fail very often. It makes me sad to think she's probably blaming herself... anyway - having said that, I don't think Jamie will be going back into a 5 pt harness any time soon, I believe he's too tall actually now, but you can be darn sure I'll be checking them really good.

Cassie: I Not Gonna Like It

Cassie cracks me up. Our kids will generally eat just about anything, but every now and then one of them gets it into their head that they aren't going to try something, that they don't like it and that's really all there is to say about it *laugh*. This is me trying to coax Cassie into our "one bite" rule. Yeah, she didn't eat any of it, she was NOT having it. See her at the end try to get me to talk about something else? She's a sly one!

I've been waiting to announce this to be sure... even now I'm a little hesitant...

BUT...

CASSIE IS POTTY TRAINED!!!!

This is day FOUR of no pee accidents (yes, we are still working on the poop issue, but she is about half-way there for that).

Did you hear me? NO MORE PULL UPS! FOUR DAYS! She still wets at night, but hello... 1 pull up per day vs. 10...

Cassie is POTTY TRAINED!!!

How did we do it, you ask?

We refused to let her have anymore pull ups and bought 20 pairs of underwear. The past 3 weeks she's been peeing herself. It's NOT pleasent.

Then we decided to bribe her. So she got "Moon Sand" today - which she saw on a TV ad and has been having a fit for.

Yes, we bribe our kids. Jamie got Moon Sand for agreeing to be a Ring Bearer in a wedding later this month.

Yay! No more diapers! No more pull ups! Freedom for mommy!!!

1st Movie for Cassie

We usually don't take Cassie when we go to the movies with Jamie, but we decided she was probably old enough... we went to see The Santa Clause 3 and she did GREAT! She did have to go potty twice and she did talk a few times, but she totally "got" that she had to be quiet because other people were there too. I put her up on a booster seat they had and she did amazing! Yay!!! I'm so excited we can now ALL go to a movie together!

Beating Up Brother...

One thing I don't like about the minivan... there's a bench seat instead of separate captain's chairs... we threaten to move Jamie to the backseat.

Dental Visit...

We took the kids to the dentist this week. Dr. Michelle Freeze was FANTASTIC. Jamie thought it was cool that he got to wear spiderman sunglasses and got a toothbrush and a sticker. He has a small cavity that needs to be filled - it is as I feared, he has deep grooves and "soft teeth" like I do, ugh!. So, one little filling next week and they are going to go ahead and put sealant on his permanent molars to protect them (ca-ching).

Cassie was NOT cooperative. I held her down in my lap while the dentist pried her mouth open a little and brushed on some fluoride. Her teeth are set very close so we have to make sure to floss more often with her - but, gawd, she fights...
