Hot times... Summer in the city (errr.. suburbs)
It hasn't rained all day - of course, our plans got all screwed up today, so we threw the kids outside to play. They got hot, so into the kiddie pool they went...

Last night we went to Tom's parent's house for dinner. Quite the feast - shrimp and steak with hot dogs with the kids. I love shrimp, but since Tom is allergic to shellfish, I rarely get any. Yum!

A rock band's work is never done... after the show, they had to pose for pictures for their adoring fans...

I realize this will be a shocker, but it was raining today in Austin (I'm still planning on that ark building party, people!). So, let me catch you guys up...
Anyway, so she's a jokester (sometimes not such a good thing - we had a rubber cement incident with the dog - oy vey!)... anyway... so, what we did today...
... ut uh... already turning her into an alky...
(It's Pellegrino water, Gin... chill out!)

I'm gonna start building an ark. No, really. For the past month, Austin has been over-run with rains. It won't stop. So, I can't send the kids out to play because it's either raining or just stopped raining and it's muddy. Or the grass is too high because you can't even freaking cut the grass.

No, I'm not crazy. I swear, I have seen 2 red dragonflies outside. No, really. I thought they were all like blue or green, but this is actually red. The picture doesn't do it justice because I took it through a window far away, but see... it's red. Anyone else ever see one? Is not a dragonfly? Weird...

Tom and I finished our books within about 30 minutes of each other. I wrote a review on my other My Raves blog.
It is raining... Still... Bribed kids with fort so we could read Harry Potter... laugh.

Yes, Tom and I are dorks. This is not news. If we are childless, we will be going together, otherwise Tom will go get our copies so we can stay up all night reading.
This was taken by one of my friend's kids... I thought it was a great picture! To see more pictures taken by kids, visit/join our project blog: If You Give A Kid A Camera... - where people share pics taken by their kids!
There's nothing like playing inside on a hot Summer day with your dog and your My Little Ponies (and of course, irritating your older brother). She looks like she is simply up to no good, doesn't she?

We were going through the big envelopes of stuff (finally) that the teacher sent home with Jamie and wow... what a difference.
And, no I don't know why he draws penis-looking things. (Remember the butterfly?)

Walking, potty training, losing teeth, reading... none of that has anything on Jamie's latest milestone.

Caffeine may be the only thing keeping me from going crazy? taking the kids around town while Tom does school work... They are acting crazy in the car.

Happy 4th of July! We had a party over here that ended up being pretty fun! We had a nice break in the rain and the kids got to go in the pool and we had quite a few people show up in the end. It was nice to hang out with friends and have a good time. Tom and I both love to have people over so we are trying to do it more often :)

Well, a little more maybe... she was born in mid-January, so whatever... The update on her is that she's insane. No, really, she flips out when the door bell rings or if she THINKS the door bell has rung. Yeah, I know chihuahua's are hyper, she's a cutie. And honestly, she is SO good with the kids and is overall a sweet dog. She had her stitches out a few days ago from her spay surgery and we decided to try on her shirt she got from the Easter bunny... it fits! (Yes, I know - I said I never would - leave me alone). She let me get a few shots of her today too.

Jamie wanted me to take a picture to share here. Tom mowed the lawn yesterday and every time he does, we always get tons of birds and squirrels hunting through the newly shorted grass looking for whatever it is they look for... we even had a cardinal and two blue jays out there. I always point them out to the kids because they think they are so cool. My office is so great. I can see into the backyard where we have a bird feeder to attract them (those blue jays are MEAN birds!) and I can see the kids playing. It's fun for me to watch as soon as the kids come in, the birds start flocking around. I guess because of all the rain we've had the past 3 weeks, they were hunting around hard for food.
