First Summer Craft --- SAND ART!

Yeah, so for whatever reason, my kids went crazy about this stuff. They wanted to do sand art. So I bought sand art. I said we would do it the first week after school was out. We did it Wednesday.... and survey says...

Jamies First Summer Craft - Sand Art

I think they were a little disappointed. I think they were expecting this big huge deal with the sand and decorations and mixing it up, I showed them how to make it layered, but then Cassie's settled and she fell and it got all wiggly and she had a melt down and wouldn't let me take a picture because it wasn't any good anymore, so we added sand to them both and man... Jamie's expression says it all.

I think I'm gonna just let them play outside with dirt and sticks. That seems safer somehow. Maybe I'll get Jamie a beebee gun and a slingshot and Cassie can have some matches.

Or something.

Anything.

Cassie's Drawing - A little disturbing actually

So this is me and Julie (the dog).

Let's ignore the fact that I'm frowning. The round things she tells me (blushing) are shoulders. I am pretty sure she made it anatomically correct. LOL. And WHAT is up with my hair, dudes? And why are my arms (not attached to my shoulders) coming out of my ears? Hmmm... seriously, though, how cute is that?

Heh, I'm 12

So, I always try to put a little note in Jamie's snack and/or lunchbox. I've been putting in a countdown in his snack each day and he usually writes back "Yay!" or something. On Friday, I sent a note that there were 4 more days left and he sent it back with this sticker. I couldn't stop giggling. Yes, I'm 12. BUT so is Tom, he was giggling like a school girl.

Jamie's gonna be a fish store owner!

... apparently.

I'm guessing this was some "draw what you want to do when you grow up" type of thing. He came home with this several days ago. There's a shop with a big sign off of the main freeway that is called Pet Supplies Plus. I guess he sees it often enough, he drew it! I thought he did a pretty good job, lotsa detail going on here!

Jamies Fish Store 1

It says "Pets Supplies Plus" and under that I think it says "Fish Free"

Jamies Fish Store 2

I think this says "I sell fish and fish food. They would buy these."
"Fish Surprise"
"Goldfish"
"WooHoo"
"Fish Food"
"For your happy fish"

Okay, that last bit made me seriously LOL

*giggle*

Ice Sculptures

We stayed a hotel that is around the campus for Johnson and Wales in Charlotte. It's a culinary arts school. We saw them cooking as we walked around downtown and we saw them doing ice sculptures one day in the area near the parking garage. It was really neat!

Generally Obsessed

I'm starting to worry a bit about Jamie's obsession with this stupid computer game that Tom taught him - it's called Generals (something or other). It doesn't bother me that he plays it, but nearly everything he has to do at school and bring home centers around this game.

For this assignment, it looks like he had to write instructions for doing something. Most kids maybe built a fort or a lego house or something. Not mine... he writes for how to play the game.

We've already cut him way back to only being able to play a set time on weekends only. I have no idea if that will work. I shouldn't be surprised, his dad is addicted to World of Warcraft. Must run in the blood.

Anyway, here's his cute drawings anyway *laugh*

More Art Crap from Jamie...

These came from school over the past week...

The first is a boot. I think that must be some book they read or something. It says "Dear Armadillo Boy, you did good but that boot was not an armadillo. From, Jamie"

Armadillo Boy - From School

And this is a "Quilt Story". I think he took this more literally than he was supposed to because it's about... well, it's about he and his sister... making a quilt. *laugh*

Latest Art From Kiddos

Cassie has her 5 year check up today - Tom says he's gonna post about it later.

In the meantime...

Jamie drew the houses. With the really small doors and really big snail. Ummm... okay.

Cassie did the invitation to my birthday party (no, we didn't have one - we did have a little celebration with just us) with her MiMi.

Jamie's Art

He made this in art class so they could send it home along with the cookie stuff below so we could buy some stuff made out of his art. I bought some magnets to give as xmas gifts. LOL.

Jamie tell me that it is a rock star's house, the red is the "flames". Okay then.

Jamie - Kindergarten - Then & Now

We were going through the big envelopes of stuff (finally) that the teacher sent home with Jamie and wow... what a difference.

This was his writing during the first week of school:
And, no I don't know why he draws penis-looking things. (Remember the butterfly?)

... and these were done in late April...

... and just a funny story about the one below... Jamie kept forgetting where he left his library books. At the house, in the car, in the classroom... he apparently wrote this one on a day he did NOT want to be at school and the teacher responded *laugh*

Jamie's First Novel...

This came home from school... I believe I may have a novelist on my hands!

"My tooth is loose" I said. Notice the dog at his feet, and of course Cassie beside him.

"Julie, look my tooth fell out" - Julie is our dog. Notice he's holding the tooth there.

"The tooth fairy is here." Notice the pillow, the ZZZs and and the little tooth fairy.

"I got two dollars." - You gotta be impressed not only by the money drawn in his hands, but the halo on his head (?)
"I am having breakfast." -- no idea what this has to do with anything, but he and Cassie having breakfast - notice the cereal in the bowls? LOL!

Jamie's Art...

Here are a few pictures Jamie brought home over the weekend... (He LOVES art class - but it just reminds me that my kid is probably insane).

Here is a picture Jamie drew for Cassie. He is the one standing up with the large teeth (he is apparently a shark, with uh... 3 arms). He bit the flower on the ground that is all wilted and... oh yes, that other person on the ground. That's Cassie, he bit (and killed apparently) her too. Wonderful.

This is actually really very pretty, it's done in pastels or charcoal or something. I have it hanging on my window...

Now then.... This is the other side of the pretty picture above...

Yeah... I asked Jamie ummm... what that is...

It's a LIGHT BUG, people... get yer mind outta the gutters.

Geez.
